This morning Steve and Maggie invited Shawn, Brenda and me over for introductions to the newest and cutest member of their family. Willie, named after none other than the legendary Willie Nelson himself, instantly stole away our hearts.

As Steve pressed some tasty Blue Mountain coffee for all of us to enjoy, we watched Willie run around with his new bone in total bliss until he had tuckered himself out.

It was a great start to my Sunday.

Sam and Adam, good friends of mine, were married early last June in Red Lodge, just an hour’s drive from Billings.
It was a good day to kick off the wedding season last year.

Ok, it’s like this…

I’ve been really bad at keeping my blog up and in chronological order, something I think is important. I’m bouncing all over the place and not finding my rhythm, so…

Tonight I’ve made the decision to go back, waaay back, and start posting some things I haven’t, which includes weddings from last year, and includes this one from over two years ago! My posts over the next week will be of weddings and miscellaneous jobs I’ve done in the last year. After they’re blogged I’ll blog some more from my travels until I feel like I’m caught up and current.

On my old blog I was consistent with blogging and keeping it on a current timeline, which I know a lot of people liked. And it makes sense. You follow with me as I travel into tomorrow and next week and so on. Bouncing around might not be too bad as long as I had a base post or a few base posts to launch from, so that now is my goal. Then I would think of the bouncing more as “referencing”, which is much better sounding. So, lets begin here ….

Desta and David were married on Halloween a couple of years ago and I was more than excited when they asked me to be a part of it. It was a small affair in the backyard of her mom’s. And although it was a pretty flat, overcast and gloomy day, which for me was a little saddening because the colors in their clothes just wouldn’t pop like I wanted, it was one of the most enjoyable times in recent shooting memory.

Everything worn by Desta and her daughter Lily were handmade by Desta– I know, amazing! I still can’t believe her artistry. As you can see, they incorporated a medieval theme into their day, something they are active in. And something I’d like to see more of. I’m kind of curious.

From beginning to end, it was a too-quick, two hours, and while I secretly wished it would’ve gone on longer, I am happy to have been there. It’s still a favorite.

As a kid growing up watching spaghetti westerns, a staple of our household, this themed shoot was just right up my alley.

I first met Ashten a couple of years ago when I shot her sister’s senior pictures. I was happily surprised to find out that she, like her sister Angel, is an artist and works in a couple mediums.

For Ashten’s session we started out at ZooMontana just minutes before they locked up the front gates for the evening. We spent about an hour there before heading back into town looking for some interesting places, and as always chasing the waning light.

The day I got together with Jessica for her senior pictures couldn’t have been more perfect. The light was so right in every way and the evening proved to be just as fantastic.

I met Jessica and her mom Cate in downtown Billings where we started off our fun afternoon. Eventually we wandered through the Billings area chasing all the beautiful light we could, finally ending our session a couple hours later just as the sun dipped behind the horizon.

I’ve gotten to know Jessica’s family over the years as and I’m always thrilled when I get a call from them. I first shot her mom’s wedding back in 2009 and followed that with her brother Zach’s senior pictures a little bit later. It’s been all around good times each and every time and I’m looking forward to our next outing.

I’m really trying to get back into some sort of groove with this here blog but it’s been tough as I’ve been working crazy hours and when I get home all I want to do is put my head down on my pillow.

I usually start arranging photos to blog but half way through I find myself distracted and wandering my hard drive looking at faces of friends I’ve captured at one time or another. I’m realizing I have a lot of pictures of friends and realizing even more how lucky I am that I have friends who understand my need to have my camera with me at all times, not to mention the patience they have with me sticking it in their face, often.

Brandie is someone I’ve known for quite a while and even though we seem to randomly find each other months or even years apart in time, we always reconnect like we were only talking the day before. We never skip a beat and I’m always glad when we find the time for drinks and catching up.
She’s one of those friends I’m sure will be helping me along when I’m old and frail still trying with all my might to lift my camera to my eye.

Thank you Brandie for always being there, now and whenever.
