I loaded up my new Contax 645 this past weekend with some 120 film and had a blast! I just love the camera and it feels so good in my hands. I love looking through the viewfinder and admiring the scene in front of me.

These shots aren’t anything too special. I was trigger happy and mostly excited just hearing the film advance. I have a mix of Fuji and Kodak presented here and if you look close, there is a slight difference in tones between some photographs. I’m thinking that I like the Fuji images better; softer tones, yet crisp and just dang prettier. There is definitely a smoother and softer feel to film than digital. Before I switched to digital about five years ago I used to shoot Kodak Portra nc and loved how skin tones were soft and delicate looking. With medium format and film, that look is back! And I forgot how much I liked it :) My next shoot this weekend with the camera will be more precise and thought out. And now that I’m sure my camera is in great working order, I’ll be sending it out to an awesome lab in SoCal for some proper processing love. And better resolution scanning.
